As a baby, being baptized into the Catholic Church is one of the greatest rites of passage.  This baptism at St. Mary’s Basilica in Old Town Alexandria was an incredibly special moment for this little guy’s family and friends alike.  Family flew in from both in and out of the country to attend Jose’s baptism and I’m certain it will hold a special place in their lives for years to come.

St. Mary’s Basilica is located on Royal St. in Old Town Alexandria and is one of the most iconic buildings in Old Town itself.

Below the patron saint of St. Mary’s overlooks the sanctuary and the baptismal font.

It was a beautiful day for a baptism in Old Town Alexandria, and light streamed in through the stained glass windows.

Occasionally while editing, I find happy little mergers.  In the image below, the arch and cross on the baptismal font create a perfect halo around little Jose’s head and the cross appears just above.

Jose’s baptismal gown was a gift from his grandma and brought to him from Miami, FL.

I have no doubt this little guy is well loved!

Following the baptism at St. Mary’s, family and friends were able to walk to a reception at Hotel Indigo’s Hummingbird restaurant.
