Black and White Newborn Photography is my favorite type of newborn photography.  There is just something about black and white imagery that lets you know how it *felt* as much as what it looked like.  A common question I receive when talking with new parents is what percentage of their images will be delivered in black and white only and how many will be in color.  Although I recognize that many parent’s choose me specifically because they do love my newborn photography in black and white, I also recognize that because I work in digital photography, it’s fairly simple to delivery both the black and white images AND the color images if the photo works both way.  I delivered most of this gallery both ways; although I just can’t help but LOVE most of these images most in black and white.

I’ve been offering family and newborn photography in Cameron Station in the west end of Alexandria, VA for many years.  This particular family found me early in my career as a newborn photography and this is the 2nd baby I have photographed for them.

This is their 3rd little boy and a super fun and exciting bunch!  Can you imagine the adventures this crew is going to have together?

I believe newborn sessions should be about the feeling of welcoming another child into your home, into your family, and into your arms.  Becoming a family is messy business and doesn’t every look like those perfectly sleeping Ann Gedes style images, which is why I choose to focus my work on newborn lifestyle sessions.  I love when the true personalities of each family member shine through and I think black and white newborn photography is one of the best ways to accomplish this.  I think this big brother is rocking at his new job!
