Grace was a summer baby, born on a Hot, HOT day in August. For her first birthday portraits; however, we played it cool and did some of them indoors before heading out just before sunset. Her lace romper made for an adorably chic toddler look.
I love in home family sessions as they allow for SO much more of the individual family’s uniqueness to show through. Grace may not remember this nursery in her mind, however, having photos of it will allow her to appreciate the work her mother spent in creating a perfect space for her to grow in so early in life.
Choosing to do Classic First Birthday Portraits over the more trendy cake smash session ensures that your child’s portraits will stand the test of time. Cake’s cute too, but those adorable little looks and toothy grins will NEVER go out of style.
….and nothing says summer quite like bare feet! Love those little tiny fingers and toes… For location, we selected Ben Brenman Park near Cameron Station.
It isn’t just winter here in Virginia that can make outdoor portrait sessions challenging, but summer can be tough too with the heat and humidity. If you’ve ever wondered about doing an indoor portrait session, I’d love to chat with you about logistics! Depending on the number of people involved and the space you’re considering, this could be an excellent match for you. Most indoor family sessions are shot in the family’s home and are typically ideal for smaller groups and especially awesome for family’s with small kids.
For additional first birthday portrait sessions, see this CAKE SMASH SESSION or this WINTER PORTRAIT SESSION.
Hi I’m Erin and the artist behind Erin Tetterton Photography. Welcome to the photographic THE ARCHIVES.
I believe our lives are divine orchestrations. We each have a story and I believe they are stories that deserve to be told and told well. From Weddings, to Babies, and to celebrate the years we are just glad to have behind us. The photos I take are the images that tell the story. Your own history. Your family’s history. ….and the history of those generations that are to come.
My goal is to create authentic, timeless imagery that accurately depicts each phase of your life. Those phases will be different, unique, and beautiful. Inject humor! Do them in a place you love!
