I’ve always loved senior portraits. My own senior portraits (back in the stone – ahem film – age) were the last time before my wedding photos that I was photographed professionally. Graduating whether from High School or from College is a huge achievement!…and definitely worth celebrating and commemorating with portraits.
Seth is an avid musician and brought both his guitar and ukulele to his session. He wanted a little bit of an album cover feel to his senior portraits; however, also balanced with his mother’s hopes to incorporate a little of northern Virginia’s fall foliage as Seth is her fall baby. We started on the north end of Old Town and worked our way over to the tunnel under Alexandria’s Union Station.
Most people don’t think of old town Alexandria lending itself to more gritty portraiture, but in some ways it can. I’ve had my eye on this warehouse on the north end of town for a few years now and have waited for just the moment to choose it for a session. The blue green against the rusty oranges made for something clearly fall.
This senior portrait of Seth above in black and white is one of my all time favorites.
Seth brought his guitar along and played a few tunes for me and Old Town Alexandria’s passers-by amidst the leaves of fall.
Seriously, do you not think this senior portrait could be an album cover one day?!?
We stopped down at the waterfront in old town Alexandria for a few more of Seth’s senior portraits.
I don’t know what it is, but black and whites completely steal my soul.
Seth and his high school sweetheart have been in a long distance relationship and the train station in Alexandria has played a huge part in their relationship. So we popped down to Union Station in Alexandria for a few final portraits as the sun went down.
I’ve long loved double exposures, but have also been experimenting with prisms as well. This portrait at Union Station in Alexandria with Seth and his guitar uses a prism to reflect the image at the bottom as well as the top.
Hi I’m Erin and the artist behind Erin Tetterton Photography. Welcome to the photographic THE ARCHIVES.
I believe our lives are divine orchestrations. We each have a story and I believe they are stories that deserve to be told and told well. From Weddings, to Babies, and to celebrate the years we are just glad to have behind us. The photos I take are the images that tell the story. Your own history. Your family’s history. ….and the history of those generations that are to come.
My goal is to create authentic, timeless imagery that accurately depicts each phase of your life. Those phases will be different, unique, and beautiful. Inject humor! Do them in a place you love!
