Their Wedding Invitation created by Artisan Matchmaker featured a Watercolor map of Old Town Alexandria, including city hall, Torpedo Factory, Carlyle House, Hotel Indigo, and the Old Town Trolley.
Long before I was a wedding photographer, I collected vintage stamps. I selected the Commemorative Bicentennial of Alexandria Air Mail stamp featuring the Carlyle House where Jennifer & Chris held their wedding as well as historical Gadsby’s Tavern. Also included were a stamp of local Virginian George Mason and a vintage sailing stamp in honor of Jennifer’s passion for sailing.
In addition to her own engagement ring, Jennifer also wore a vintage ring from her grandmother.
The simple inscription inside of Chris’s ring sums up their sentiments perfectly.
If you’ve been to the Carlyle House, it’s hard not to remember their signature blue doors. Jen chose blue suede shoes in a similar shade of blue as her wedding day shoes.
Jennifer got ready for her wedding day with family & bridesmaids at Fostr Collaborative in Georgetown before heading to the Carlyle House in Alexandria.
Chris got ready for the wedding at Hotel Indigo in Old Town Alexandria, which was conveniently walking distance from their Carlyle House Wedding.
Spending time with family and friends on their wedding day was really important to both Jennifer & Chris, so they opted for a first look in the Carlyle House Gardens before their ceremony.
Carlyle House has not shortage of choices for wedding portraits. I love the way the light filters through the magnolias and other trees casting a perfectly romantic light on this lovely couple.
By the time the ceremony time arrived, there was a perfect layer of fluffy white clouds floating through blue skies in Old Town Alexandria and over the Carlyle House.
Velvet Moss Florist did a stunning job adding touches over greenery on the front door and the railings of Carlyle House to create a simple, elegant backdrop for this quintessentially Old Town Alexandria Wedding Ceremony.
This blue Mrs. Box was a close match for the blue doors at Carlyle House and will be a wonderful wedding keepsake for years to come.
Social media has played a big part in Jennifer & Chris’s relationship and they opted to allow cell phone photography & recording of their ceremony, later asking guests to upload photos using their own wedding hashtag. #OurOldTownWedding
The bride and groom walked back down the aisle at the Carlyle House amidst a sea of bubbles.
After the ceremony & portraits, Jen traded in her wedding day bouquet for a flower crown made of hypericum berries and white wax flowers.
Jennifer & Chris shared their first dance at their Carlyle House Wedding underneath the magnolias in the Carlyle House Gardens.
Jennifer left not detail untouched and included many pieces from Something Vintage Rentals including these perfect dusty blue chairs wrapped in greenery.
The hummingbird cake by Liberty Baking Co. was absolutely AMAZING!…and adorable on the vintage plates from Something Vintage Rentals.

Hi I’m Erin and the artist behind Erin Tetterton Photography. Welcome to the photographic THE ARCHIVES.
I believe our lives are divine orchestrations. We each have a story and I believe they are stories that deserve to be told and told well. From Weddings, to Babies, and to celebrate the years we are just glad to have behind us. The photos I take are the images that tell the story. Your own history. Your family’s history. ….and the history of those generations that are to come.
My goal is to create authentic, timeless imagery that accurately depicts each phase of your life. Those phases will be different, unique, and beautiful. Inject humor! Do them in a place you love!
