This winter engagement session at Great Falls Park in Maryland was perfect for Rachel & Rick, who both love hiking.

Rachel’s engagement ring is a perfectly balanced three stone ring with a sapphire center stone flanked by diamonds on either side.  I love seeing ring shots with the shiny formal ring juxtaposed with nature.

It’s no secret that I love doing  engagement sessions in the winter.  And a winter engagement session at Great Falls is definitely a stunner!  The world is full of muted-neutral colors and there is something so much more romantic about snuggling during an engagement session on a chilly winter day.

Rachel & Rick picked the perfect outfits for a winter engagement session, with a cozy waffle knit cardigan & jeans for Rachel and a leather motorcycle jacket and gingham for Rick.

I truly believe even black and white engagement photos can feel colorful!  …and laughter and smiles do just that.

The water level was quite high during R&R’s engagement session, which made some areas of Great Falls inaccessible; however, it also made for a great view from the top of the cliffs overlooking the falls below.

This winter engagement session at Great Falls has me so excited for Rachel & Rick’s upcoming wedding at 48 Fields in the fall.  See you two again soon!
