When Rebecca, Kevin, & I first started chatting about the location for their winter engagement session, Kevin mentioned he’s really like to do a session in the snow.  Winter in Virginia can be so unpredictable and although we always get cold weather there is no guarantee that we’ll get snow.  Ultimately the couple decided that choosing a date and hoping for pleasant weather was more important. They elected a date in early February and we hoped for the best.  The day was mild and Rebecca & Kevin had selected downtown Clifton, VA for their session.  However, none of us expected to still find snow in the woods just outside of town.  ….and that is how Kevin’s original dream of a snowy winter engagement session came to happen.

We started the winter engagement session close the the historical Clifton Presbyterian Church built in 1871.  The stone exterior and dramatic wooden doors made for a perfect backdrop and are few things are more iconic of Clifton than this church.

As the sun sank closer to Golden Hour, wandered back into the woods on the outskirts of downtown Clifton and found the perfect snowy woods on the north facing slopes.

Rebecca & Kevin met at a small group Bible study through their home church in Arlington, VA.  I loved watching the pure joy on both of their faces as they spent time together.

These two will celebrate their love at their wedding later this year on a day which I’m certain will not be cold at Woodend Sanctuary.
