I don’t always wake up early on a winter morning; however, when I do, it’s definitely for a winter portrait session at the Jefferson Memorial. I met Kristen & Dave through A. Griffin Events last year before their fall wedding at River Creek Club. After getting married they moved to Florida to follow Dave’s career, but knew they wanted to commemorate this time in their lives here in Washington DC with sunrise portraits at the Jefferson Memorial. Winter can be quite cold here in Washington DC, but this particular morning was a balmy 50F, perfectly calm, and had a glorious sunrise over the back of the Jefferson Memorial.

Sunrise is by far the best time to be at any of the memorials or the tidal basin in general; however, on this particular morning, we had the entire Jefferson Memorial all to ourselves! Just us and Mr. Jefferson himself. Finding creative ways to use the space that would be more challenging on a day with lots of tourists was fun and the results truly stunning.

The sun was out, but the dew was heavy on this particular morning. Dewdrops hung like jewels on the cherry trees that line the Tidal Basin.

The water on the floor of the Jefferson Memorial was still and acted like a mirror reflecting light and creating reflections of both Kristen & Dave.

Hi I’m Erin and the artist behind Erin Tetterton Photography. Welcome to the photographic THE ARCHIVES.
I believe our lives are divine orchestrations. We each have a story and I believe they are stories that deserve to be told and told well. From Weddings, to Babies, and to celebrate the years we are just glad to have behind us. The photos I take are the images that tell the story. Your own history. Your family’s history. ….and the history of those generations that are to come.
My goal is to create authentic, timeless imagery that accurately depicts each phase of your life. Those phases will be different, unique, and beautiful. Inject humor! Do them in a place you love!
