Creative Headshots | Old Town Alexandria

LIFESTYLE

Creative headshots are in!

Although a few industries still use the stodgy grey backgrounds, many others focus on building a personal brand identity through portraiture. Below are three tips for creating stunning professional, creative headshots that will connect who you are as a personal brand to future clients.

1.) Choose the location for your headshots intentionally.

Selecting a location for your headshots that speaks to who you are can help to build your own personal brand.  Whether you choose the location because of it’s meaning to your business’s location or your own personal identity or whether it’s purely an aesthetic preference for can help to collectively enhance your creative headshots and make them your own.

For this particular creative headshot session, we chose Old Town Alexandria for mostly aesthetic preferences.

We knew we wanted to include elements of red in each image and looked for red elements in our environment to keep the images themed.  This red door on King St. and vintage red car parked on Fayette St, made including this them color easy.

2.) Wardrobe choices for a headshot session can also make a big impact.

Adam here chose to include a sweater with a tiny bit of red which was brought out by the additional creative use of red elements in his headshot session.

For men in particular adding layers, such as scarves, hats, vests, & other accessories can add additional interest.

3.) Book with a creative headshot photographer that you really trust!

Every photographer is different.  Finding a photographer you’re excited to work with and has a style you love is so important.  I love working with client’s who want creative headshots and outside of the box crops in addition to really classic images.  If you too love creativity in addition to classic images, rich colors, and bold statements, I’d love to get in touch with you about creating headshots you’ll enjoy for years to come.

Hi I’m Erin and the artist behind Erin Tetterton Photography. Welcome to the photographic THE ARCHIVES.

I believe our lives are divine orchestrations. We each have a story and I believe they are stories that deserve to be told and told well. From Weddings, to Babies, and to celebrate the years we are just glad to have behind us. The photos I take are the images that tell the story. Your own history. Your family’s history. ….and the history of those generations that are to come.

My goal is to create authentic, timeless imagery that accurately depicts each phase of your life. Those phases will be different, unique, and beautiful. Inject humor! Do them in a place you love!
