Absolutely in love with this fall wedding at River Creek Club in Leesbug, VA! There is nothing quite like fall in Virginia and after hearing about Dave’s proposal to Kristen during the fall in the Shenandoah Mountains, the wedding designers from A. Griffin Events knew they wanted to help Dave and Kristen capitalize on the the colors and feel of fall for the River Creek Club Wedding.
When planning their wedding, Kristen and Dave started with a city close to their hearts: Leesburg, Virginia. Kristen spent most of her young-adulthood in Leesburg visiting her grandmother and working for Eloise’s Pastries, the very bakery that would soon-after create her dream wedding cake. As they toured local venues, the two fell deeply in love with the sweeping views of the River Creek Club golf course and imagined their wedding guests sipping cocktails while watching the sun set. With fire pits on the lower level and cafe lighting above the veranda, Kristen and Dave found the coziest venue for their wedding day.
In choosing a color palette the designers from A. Griffin Events worked with K & D to pull from the colors of fall.
Kristen also included a customized navy and rose gold Mrs. Box to be passed down to future generations as her contribution to the family collection of wedding day heirloom details.
Kristen chose to include some family heirlooms in her wedding, in Kristen’s own words:
“Many of my details came from my grandmother on my mother’s side. My garter was worn by not only my grandmother and mother but all of my mothers sisters. Two of the round vanity jars I included came from my grandmother’s Aunt Cecila. My mother and grandmother are incredibly important to me so I was certain I wanted to have them as part of our wedding.”
Dave and Kristen spent the day surrounded by family and friends at River Creek Club.
Dave & Kristen exchanged thoughtful gifts and notes in lieu of a first look.
Phillipa Tarrant did an exquisite job capturing the colors and feel of fall in this stunning fall bridal bouquet. The fading leaves in fall are incomparable with their saturated orange and burgundy hues and served as the inspiration for this fall bridal bouquet. Touches of gold brought in the warmth of the golden hour sunset, for which Virginia is so famous. Navy, reminiscent of the deep soon-to-be winter night sky, grounded the palette. Bridesmaids wore navy and carried bouquets by Philippa Tarrant that matched the rich, autumnal palette. Ivory linens paired with navy waterfall napkins were complemented with centerpieces composed of dahlias, ranunculus, snapdragons, and peach hypericum berries for texture.
The indoor ceremony space at River Creek Club felt so cozy on this fall afternoon and was filled with the warmth of candlelight and a lit fireplace.
Having known each other for years, Kristen knew Dave felt strongly about keeping to tradition. Dave was always a firm believer that the first time he saw his bride would be as she walked down the aisle so we opted out of a first look. Kristen walked down the aisle lined with lanterns and candlelight to their favorite Disney ballads and there wasn’t a dry eye to be found.
Golden hour for Dave & Kristen’s fall wedding at River Creek Club did not disappoint! River Creek Club provided golf carts and we headed out to capture these incredible moments along the greens as the sun began to dip low onto the horizon.
The evening air was crisp and cool and the the monogrammed blankets Dave and Kristen chose as favors for their guests also came in handy while doing wedding portraits around River Creek Club.
A River Creek Wedding would not be complete without this stunning view of the club house itself.
For wedding favors, Dave & Kristen chose these cozy monogrammed blankets for each of their guests.
The reception stationery by Emily Baird Design perfectly combined their love for Disney while remaining understated and elegant. We created a small “hidden Mickey” hunt that spanned across all stationery. Navy escort cards included a hidden Mickey to indicate kids meals. A single rose with petals falling adorned the ceremony program, reminiscent of Kristen and Dave’s favorite, Beauty and the Beast. Table numbers were accented with small fireworks, embracing the time-honored, classic fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom.
Another priority for Kristen and Dave was their wedding cake. Having worked for Eloise’s Pastries in the past, Kristen knew she had to create a custom wedding cake with Mille the baker from Eloise’s Pastries. To echo the autumnal theme they chose yellow butter cake with seasonal apple spice mousse and included small, nearly invisible, fondant Mickey shapes to continue the hidden Mickey hunt. To complete the look, they included a “Happily Ever After” cake topper.
Kristen and Dave then ended their night with another homage to the Magic Kingdom, a classic sparkler exit.
