This Old Town Alexandria Wedding at the Carlyle House may have happened a few months later than Sasha & Jack originally planned and with a few less guests. However, it was big on personal touches and love. Both Sasha & Jack’s families have roots from Okinawa, Japan and they wanted to include some of their shared heritage through their wedding day details. They worked this theme throughout starting with custom Save-the-Dates, a tropical inspired bridal bouquet, and paper crane touches at their reception.
Alternative stones instead of diamonds is one of my favorite wedding trends over the last few years. Sasha and Jack chose a moonstone wedding band for Sasha set in yellow gold.
One of the easiest ways to elevate your wedding day details is by picking a unique ring box. I loved this monogrammed pink velvet box ring box. The pink box really sets off the moonstone wedding ring and will make a wonderful and desirable heirloom to hand down to generations to come.
As with many weddings in 2020, Sash & Jack’s plans changed a lot. While they are both looking forward to celebrating with all of their friends and families next year where Sasha would love to wear the original wedding gown she chose, she ultimately decided to choose a different dress for their smaller wedding this year. This knee length Tadashi Shoji dress was the perfect choice for their intimate garden wedding at the Carlyle House in Old Town Alexandria.
Jack & Sasha wanted to include their cat in their wedding details and this felted portrait of their own kitty was the perfect was to make their cat a part of their wedding day details.
This showstopper wedding bouquet was created by Helen Olivia and was designed to touch back to the tropical vibes of Okinawa, Japan.
As an Alexandria based wedding photographer, I always feel I have a little bit of a home field advantage in knowing all of the best wedding photography spots in Old Town Alexandria. Sasha’s tropical bouquet was begging for a trip over to the pink columns at The Antheneum.
The Old Town Rats had a few pandemic related messages to share. The rats are located on Lee St. and change their messages often.
We finished up our Old Town Wedding Photography tour just ahead of Sasha & Jacks Carlyle House Wedding Ceremony.
The sun came out just in time for Sasha & Jack’s wedding ceremony in the gardens behind the Carlyle House and twinkled through the trees creating beautiful lens flare here and there.
The sunset on Sasha & Jack’s wedding day was spectacular and we popped out just in time to catch the last rays of light before they rejoined their guests for their Wedding Reception at Hummingbird at Hotel Indigo.
Sasha & Jack were joined by their friends and family for an outdoor wedding reception on the patio at Hummingbird. They added personal touches including the love of anime, the cat, and shared heritage from Okinawa to their wedding reception decor.
The couple along with their families, folded hundreds of paper cranes to create this Instagram-able backdrop for photos with friends during their reception.

Hi I’m Erin and the artist behind Erin Tetterton Photography. Welcome to the photographic THE ARCHIVES.
I believe our lives are divine orchestrations. We each have a story and I believe they are stories that deserve to be told and told well. From Weddings, to Babies, and to celebrate the years we are just glad to have behind us. The photos I take are the images that tell the story. Your own history. Your family’s history. ….and the history of those generations that are to come.
My goal is to create authentic, timeless imagery that accurately depicts each phase of your life. Those phases will be different, unique, and beautiful. Inject humor! Do them in a place you love!
